This website has been set up in partnership with a wide range of organisations. The website is maintained by the Children’s Information Service and YorOK!

YorOK!

In September 2003 York, along with 34 other local authorities, was successful in becoming a pathfinder children’s trust.

A children's trust is the government's preferred method of achieving the local integration of services and better outcomes for children and young people. In order to avoid confusion with a long-established charitable organisation - The York Children's Trust -we have adopted the name "Yor OK! Working together with children, young people and families".

The aim of Yor OK! is to get services to work together to provide better outcomes for children and young people. We do not run any direct services for children or their families.

Yor OK! brings together education, social care, the voluntary sector and some health services for children and young people. It also includes Sure Start, the Children's Fund and Connexions who provide innovative support for children and young people. The long-term objective is that all agencies that provide services for children and young people in the area will join together through Yor OK! Working together with children, young people and families.

YorOK! Produces the Children and Young People’s Plan which sets out what we want to achieve in partnership with a wide range of services.

The Children's Information Service

The Children's Information Service is part of the Early Years and Extended Schools Service at City of York Council. Our missions statement is:

'The Children's Information Service will provide free, accurate, up to date, reliable, comprehensive and unbiased information and advice on a range of services for children, young people and families and those wishing to work in childcare, to enable users of the service to make informed choices. The service will be led by the needs of children,young people, parents, carers, employers and childcare providers.’
